The reviews are in! I’m loving performing in Paradise! at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, and, as it turns out, the punters are also enjoying the show. Thanks to The Hugging Comedians for the review! Only one show to on Tuesday 18 September—be sure to book a ticket and come along.

From the extremely talented performer [Alexandra Mathew] who opened and closed the show with a killer voice, to the guest performer in the finale and all the absurd characters in between, this show stays with you for better or worse.

I loved performing at Winchelsea Tea Rooms the other week, particularly because I had the chance to sing Schubert’s Frühlingsglaube (‘Faith in Spring’)—my favourite song for this time of year. Here’s a little vid from the performance…

Sunday 16 September is shaping up to be a busy day! At 2:30pm I’ll be making a guest appearance as soloist in the Australian premiere of Ola Gjeilo‘s Dreamweaver with Chime Choir, conducted by Marten Visser, at the beautiful Xavier College Memorial Chapel. Tickets are $10 to $30.

From 11 to 12pm on Sunday 16 September, soprano Jenna Roubos, pianist Georgina Lewis and I will be entertaining the masses at Montsalvat for the annual Montsalvat Arts Festival. We’ll be performing a range of beautiful operatic duets, and gems from the chamber music repertoire. Ticket prices range from $10 to $35, and bookings are essential. See below for the full program.

From 12 to 18 September I’m looking forward to partaking in the Melbourne Fringe festivities! I’ll be making a guest appearance in Paradise! at the Courthouse Hotel with Barney Pollock and Matt Young. Tickets are $15 to $20.

On Thursday 30 August, Jenna Roubos and I will be trekking down to the Winchelsea Tea Rooms to perform with John Bumford for Winchelsea Morning Melodies. Tickets are $25, and include a delicious morning tea. Doors open 10am for an 11am start. We will be performing a beautiful program featuring our favourite duets and solos:

It’s been a long time between drinks here at alexandramathew.com, but fear not: life has been busy and there are exciting things on the horizon! Aside from submitting my Master’s thesis (hooray!), I recently had the privilege of performing in BBC Planet Earth II Live at the Melbourne Convention Centre, alongside the Melbourne Pops Orchestra and Eric Bana. Coming up in July, soprano Jenna Roubos and I will be performing in the Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Art Song (MIFLAS)from 7 to 13 July, for which we will participate in master classes with Graham Johnson and Stephen Varcoe. While we will miss singing with pianist Georgina Lewis (who will be busy taking Latvia by storm), we can’t wait to join forces with pianist Julia Hastings. Watch this space for more information!
